Handy spot to stop if you’re making your towards or away from wellington. Noise from road can be annoying if you’re a light sleeper. Toilets get cleaned but there’s a strong smell of bleach and odour after.

Lovely place to park up for the night and the road wasn’t too noisy for us. However, the toilet was fine when we arrived at 3pm but absolutely rancid by 9pm with flies everywhere - strange as there was hardly anyone around!

Plenty of space, on grass or gravel. A bit noisy with the road right next to it, but nothing too bad. Drinking water available and clean dry toilets.

A wonderful site for an overnight stay with a gorgeous little swing bridge and slightly overgrown walk. Lots of trees, very pretty. Thanks Lions for providing this

Well, Queens Park what a quaint little park with a dump toilet infested with sand flies as you open the lid the toilet on the opposite side of the kids playground in Bruce Street are beautiful and clean this park has a small walk bridge to stretch your legs and it has the number one highway right next to it. Also on the other side of the park we have the train line for those that are light sleepers I do heavily not recommend staying at Queens Park. The truck noise, Jake brakes train noise horns.

Well protected and public toilets are very clean and open all night. Approx 450 ks to Auckland. Had stayed previously going to South Island and Huntervillle was a respite coming back after the winds during the day. Petrol place open 24 hrs ,good coffee and basic supplies if needed. Pub had been refurbished, locals said food waz good.

A decent option when heading to Wellington. Try to park on gravel instead of grass. Can be loud with highway traffic going past.

Excellent free site. A few hard/gravel sites available (avoid the soft ground at the moment). Avoid the long drop toilet but use the excellent clean public toilets the other side of the adjacent kids playground. 24/7 petrol/diesel station that sells food/drinks opposite. Plus a few shops and cafes within easy walking distance. Nice little circular walk across an old wooden suspension bridge at the far end of the park. Some road and train noise at night. But hey this is free!
