It is right in the road but when you are looking for a place at 8.30pm you are grateful for what you can find. We are NSC, so happy to find a loo, albeit across the road. We stayed 10.2.26 & didn’t find it too noisy at night.

Road is super close, so be redy for noise and headlights show. wc on the other side of the road, not ideal, but good enough for one night. Not recommending wading in the shallow water as sea lice start bitting. Saw a ray swam just next to the shore, that was cool.

The location is beautiful, right by the sea, but also close to the road. In the evening, a suspicious man approached the campers and didn't leave for at least four hours.

This is one of the few freedom camping spots in the area that you can use during high season (in most of them like Matapouri camping is not allowed between dec and Feb). It’s a great spot with toilets across the road, we arrived around 4pm and there were still a couple of spots.

The ground isn't completely level, and the campsite is right next to the road. There are about six pitches. The restrooms are across the road; they're not super clean, but they're okay. Perfect for one night, and you have a direct view of the beach.

Frankly crap On the side of the road, on a slope, very noisy, dirty toilets on the other side of the road. Few places, maybe 5 max. Very loud music from young people in cars No choice of place with a dive too early in the morning at tutukaka

Such a great spot, right by the beach, bathrooms weren’t great but open all night. A food truck parks up right next to you in the morning and evening which is fantastic

So lovely! Bot a lot of space. You should have a walk on the track into the town. It starts behind the library and the path is cute :)

Nice spot by the water. Toilets across the road are open all night and relatively clean. Stayed in January and it seems there are not many other freedom camping spots available in the area during this time of year (other spots close by specify that you cannot stay between December and Feb. Bit of traffic noise as I fell asleep and then woke up but during the night was fine. Spot is for as many vehicles that can fit in the space - perhaps 10 or so vehicles can fit. There were 3 others that night.

After 18 december all the other free places are closed. Toilets were clean and open. The road was busy but not all night long. The place was in a corner we got hit by all the lights.
