Awesome 4x4 Track! Very similar road to skippers canyon with the small gravel road with big drop offs. Lots of plums, black berry and apple trees along the track to stop and have a bite to eat. At the top there are so many sand flies almost ruins it. All round great fun worth the drive. Do not need a snorkel like every one suggests unless you drive in the big holes in the river.
Great ride with a 4wd. Many camping bays, 2 toilets in the area. More camping area than camping, so do not despair when searching.
Great location, tough walk. Most of thee fords are at the end near the campsite end, so bring some water shoes! was only angle deep most of them. It's a shame however that vehicles can gain access right into the campsite, they playing loud music all night!! Some people come here for quiet to get away from the cities then some idiots blast their music all Eve and be really loud and shouting themselves! Also when walking here along the road so many off road bikes, quads and cars drove past kicking dust in our faces etc, and we had to move onto the sides every single time. Not the most enjoyable walk or campsite
Awsome thrilling drive! Unfortunately road is closed after 11k
We stayed here a few weeks ago and we're the only ones there! Great peaceful spot, amazing views and tramp from arrowtown over big hill. Make sure you take sandfly spray as a lot when we were there. Would recommend
