I've been there twice. If you love hiking, and have routefinding experience, good gear, good feet on rocks, and maps, with a massive bag of food, consider some alternate loops. I recommend Sunset Saddle from Angelus Hut to Hopeless Hut, and Moss Pass to connect to the D'Urville Valley.

Planned 4 days tramps, started at Mt Robert Carpark, 3h to reach Speargrass hut and 5h more to reach Sabine hut, then had to turn around bc of suddent big rain (you have to cross steams before to reach Blue Lake Hut). 1st day pretty intense as the track along lake Rotoroa had been washed away. Don't underestimate this tramp like I did, I consider myself as confirmed but if wet weather, there is slipery roots everywhere.

Advanced hike to the blue lake! Takes at least two days and even longer if you add the blue lake as additional part to the Travers-Sabine-Circuit! We did that in 6 days. There are several DOC huts. Best hike (better than Kepler etc.) in NZ so far! And the blue lake is amazing :)

Did in September 2017. Wrong season but great hiking. Keep walking little bit further after blue lake, will get to lake Constance.

Very hard to get there (for a reason is the clearest water in the world!!) You need to be fit and not for beginners as I am. The worst for me was the absence of indicative signals. After many hours of walk you never know where the next hut will be. But if you are motivated enough, go for it!! It's a gorgeous trekking

Awesome place! Not easy to get there but worth it

Probably one of the best scenery in NZ. Absolutely stunning with Blue Lake and Lake Constance a little further up the track. It literally is blue!
