We ended up doing the loop walk on the other side of the lake, Braeburn, which you can walk a bit further and it takes you to a little waterfall for a bit extra of a walk. Was 5.5km return to the carpark coming back following the loop. Very peaceful walk.
Beautiful lake but we had to stay in the camper and enjoy because there were too many sandflies and bees around. If you were in the area, the view itself is worth the extra drive, even if it was just from the car. Also, just before you get to the lake, theres a wooden house ( maybe a lodge) - check out their front garden, what an inspiration!
A lot of huge aggressive bumblebees plus sandflies, we wanted to eat our lunch there but we couldn’t handle the attacks for more than 3mins and left, I recommend the other lake, much nicer plus less insect
Beautiful location, but too many sandflies (no good for picnic and/or walk)
Beautiful spot to picnic at. Many many many sandflies. Insect spray doesn't stop them.
Beautiful, peaceful place! Try to go in good weather - be warned there are sandflies (even today in August)!! Lovely for a quick stop!!
