Such an awesome spot, we had a clear night and saw lots of stars and the distance lighthouse. Unfortunately because it was remote we had someone drive past our caravan and yelled “wake you” didn’t think much of it. At 9pm our caravan and others were water ballooned.
This is one of the most beautiful spots we’ve stopped at but unfortunately it was ruined by what we assume was some kids messing around. It got to around 9pm and our van and next door were pelted with water balloons and shouted at to wake up. A car drove around a couple of times with dipped headlights so we decided to move on from the town in the end as the car seemed to then make the rounds on the other coastal sites.
Great little spot, with sublime views of the beach and headlands. Only 3 spaces designated as freedom camping for self contained vehicles so get there early.
Most gorgeous freecamp we’ve done so far. Incredible views of the Taranaki through a cute cow field on one side, and mesmerizing cliffside views of the sea on the other. Both sunset and sunrise are beautiful here However, only three campervans at once. Better get there early!
Beautiful place with a very nice sunset! We got there pretty late last night and were the only car staying for the night. Around midnight a car came and immediately turned the engine and lights off. After we turned our lights on, it just drove a bit further away and waited in the dark again. It was too weird, so we left and parked at Middleton bay
Beautiful place to stay for the night with an amazing view all over the ocean. But watch out there are only 3 campers allowed for the night and they check it every night and morning. Still a 100% recommendation!
Very peaceful place to stay, right on the side of the cliff over looking the ocean. No facilities close by but definitely worth staying at.
This place is incredible! You can climb onto a cliff when the tide is low, we were lucky enough to have a sublime sunrise 😍 There are toilets a little further away, this place is definitely worth it :)
Beautiful spot! Mighty windy though when we were there. Just added to the excitement! Dirt road in and out in good condition, only three vehicles allowed per night, must be self-contained, no facilities at all! We jogged some of the coastal walk in the morning, was really cool! Keep it clean! Keep it free! FACEBOOK: @tasmantravels
