fantastic spot with strict local enforcement
Looks nice but construction still going and therefor it's closed. We had to go to the nearest campsite.
A place of rugged yet picturesque beauty. Plenty of quiet pitches, toilets two minutes away (though not the cleanest). The area is ideal for hiking. Good beaches for swimming and surfing...
Castle Point is a MUST on your way down the east coast. One of the most beautiful spots on the north island. The carpark is quiet and the bathrooms are well maintained. But the real kicker is the walk to and up Castle Rock for stunning views that will make you feel like you’re on the edge of the Earth. Head to the rock for sunset, and head to the lighthouse nearby for sunrise, and you’ll be amazed by this place.
Quiet location, good network and nearby toilets and bins, perfect for walks
The drive from Masterton is pretty ordinary. Check the weather forecast before you go - gusting up to 50kmh today and there's now a layer of fine sand through everything in the van. Sea fishing off high rocks with danger signs about. Behind the reef in the bay needs a bigger rod to reach deeper water. Overall a pretty spot with some interesting geology and topography. Ranger did a drive by check on vehicles so stick to the rules here.
Very busy parking lot until 6 p.m. on this Easter weekend, despite the rainy and windy weather. About 7 campervans etc. were there for the night, which leaves plenty of personal space. The parking lot can accommodate at least fifteen vans, but they must be next to each other. Toilets cleaned every morning, with toilet paper, a "foot shower", a sink, and even a family toilet with a changing table. Very windy. Very nice walks around, the sunrise is worth waking up to 😍
Beautiful campground🤗. View from the dunes of Castelrock and the lighthouse. Great walk on Castelrock. Brilliant sunrise on Castelpoint. No one came to send us away. Swimming opportunities
Really nice place! Enough places for campervans. As it is a carpark you will be parked next to eachother but totally fine for us! We loved the beach on like 5m from the carpark and the deliverance cove track is a must!!!
Great spot in a beautiful location, be prepared for sand everywhere! Toilet nearby which is open 24/7 Only downside a woman came round just after 9am and was very rude about telling everyone to leave. We wanted to stay and do the hike she made us feel very unwelcome so did not do the hike! Make sure you leave before 9am!
