Great little campsite, very windy and noisy but relaxing and with facilities
There is a private spot at the entrance, so drive inward until you see a campground sign. Clean toilet with paper open 24h. The strong wind want to blew people away during night.
I think this campsite is the best I’ve been to in the North island. Plenty of spaces to park, clean flush toilets, a little history of the country is showcased which is cool. When the skies are clear you can see the Milky Way from here and it’s stunning. Only 10 min drive to the city and about 20 min drive to catch the ferries to Picton. I will definitely stay here again when I’m back in wellington.
Amazing spot on the wild coast of Wellington. We camped here over night, enjoying the sounds of the sea. Seems a bit quieter in the colder months as we parked up at 6pm and there were still a few spots left but the camp was full by 8pm. The toilets are in okay condition and have running water etc. Considering it's free this place is a gem and well worth a visit. There is a coffee cart that opens mid morning and a walk around the coast... Lots of public show up and 4WDs use the area too.
Toilettes propres juste a cote.
Unbelievably beautiful place to visit. Fun place for kids to explore. Clean bathrooms. Hiking trail. However, we could not sleep a wink because the wind gusts were loud and kept shaking the motorhome. The visitor center alarm also kept going off. Felt like we were in a hurricane! Apparently it's normal and we survived, but we couldnt sleep. Sunrise was beautiful! We stayed at Evan's Bay tonight and got a good sleep...not as pretty for sure.
Schöner Ort. Saubere Toiletten.
Nice spot, fills up quick. Also full of regular cars during day hours so a wait is needed
