Large parking area consisting of shuttle and lawn right on the beach. Short way to the clock, these had unfortunately come a little into the years, the locks did not work properly and clean they were also not likely to.

Great location. Right by the sea. Plenty of parking. The only problem is there's no drinking water and nowhere to fill up jerrycans. The toilets are disgusting too. And the 4G signal is poor, and there are some strange people around.

Nice spot here overlooking the beach right on the Motu Trail network next to a main road. Very few vans stopping here, Toilets are a 2 minute walk to the next car park. You do get locals pulling up at all hours, dumping their rubbish at the bins and driving on the beach. Sadly I also got bitten by a locals dog here who drove off at the quickest instance. Local medical centre was great tho!😅 patchy signal, not great.

Stayed 2 nights and had no problem with rats or drunks! Great to be right on the beach

Another amazing place to park up for the night for free. Didn't see any rats or noisy locals! Made some banana bread and took around campsite all lovely. Yes road behind us but beach and sea in front and bike and walk / run trail in front. Amazing spot can accommodate many campers 25+ oh also loos fine!

Nice spot! Has toilets and one rubbish bin, right in front of the beach. Entry when coming from Opotiki is on the left side, can be missed (in which you end up by the toilets).

It is a beautiful place near the beach. But there are cars passing by at night making noise. And in the morning a group of guys smelling of alcohol came up to talk to us and made us feel very uncomfortable.

Beautiful lovely spot, toilets nice and clean. Waves lovely to fall asleep to. As per usual please follow leave no trace principles and be a tidy kiwi, take your rubbish or throw it away properly! Leave every place better than how you found it, pick up a couple pieces of rubbish before you go !

Great spot. Lovely beach. Kids played all afternoon in the stream and waves. Some traffic noise, toilets are a bit average, but ok. Nice that Opotiki Distrct Council were surveying campers on how the site could be improved!
