As of 11th of Feb 2026 the toilets aren't flushing so it was full, no toilet paper. The sink for washing your hands isn't working either. Other campsites in the region are free and have much better facilities.
Lovely spot and great location for the hikes around Mt Thomas. Grassy area is good but toilets still out of order. Dixie loo very full (not nice!). And yes, many sand flies. Still worth staying there, especially if you have a self-contained van.
Peaceful spot but very patchy 4g reception. Mostly grassy and rutted where people have struggled to get out. Ground still soft so need to take care and avoid completely in wet conditions unless you have 4wd, or chains. Will be closed 1st fortnight Oct while the loo gets fixed. Be great if they lay some gravel bays and on the access tracks while they're at it.
A picturesque spot, a nice view over rural farmland. Plenty of sandflies in the evenings. Set amongst tall trees so some tent sites can get a bit shaded. The main toilets are out of action due to sceptic tank issues, a long-drop toilet has been provided, it was clean but a bit smelly.
Stayed one night here, the grass in the further back area ( near toilets) was mown and the ground was flat. Flushing toilets were out of order, one alternate toilet was available but not very clean. Bugs were an issue, bring repellant. DOC rangers were onsite in the morning checking in on things. Note, the drive up to this is a long gravel road; it feels like you are driving the wrong way entirely. A quiet site with minimal facilities but pleasant for a night if self-contained
Very long Grass unmown for weeks The ground was so wet and sloping that you couldn’t even level the camper Lots of Flies and bugs Left after three hours of being there for a better camp ground Really DOC you can better Why didn’t the Rangers do anything about it unless they didn’t go there to check??? You want 3G Wifi or less this is where to go
We recently had three great nights here! Very quiet and peaceful and nice views. There is a lower and higher section to camp! Might be a bit awkward after a lot of rain. Some really good walks from here! Not sure on the toilet situation, but the blocks are still there. Good signal on phone and TV. Nice spot!! DOC Campsite Pass is valid here. @tasmantravels
Spent two lovely nights here. No water and no flushing toilets due to ongoing issue with sceptic tank, but long drop and chemical toilets there. Great little swimming spot and lovely walks nearby.
Spot is ok. Too many bugs tho.
Great spot lots of different camping areas remember bug spray and lots of it definitely will be back
