For one night quite okay. public toilets are right there. beach is 1 minute away. and food or cafes there are plenty on the street.
Large carpark with many other motorhomes. Toilets are quite far from designated area. Short 3 minute drive to beach front carpark as well for sunrise.
Stayed here for one night and didn’t have any problems, there was about four other maui homes next to us. We felt safe and thought it was an easy location to access everything close by. The toilets are close by and reasonably clean.
Based right in the centre of town but very quiet at night. Full by 6pm. Toilets at the end of the carpark (short walk). Good spot
Horrible spot for freedom campers! Difficult to get a good place, loud and drunk teens at midnight, city workers working onsite at 3AM.
Great options but popular so you have to get there early or be lucky. Clean public toilets and shops right near by.
We were here at 4pm and it was the last spot of the 3 freedom camping sites in kaikoura, so be quick! Public toilets nearby. You can stay here from 6pm to 8am before 6pm you have to pay the normal prices for the parking lot
Good location as I didn't get a spot at the other one. You can arrive before 5.30 but have to pay (1$ an hour)
Ten berths for fully self-contained campers (max. length 10m/30'). Right in the heart of town; nice and quiet overnight. Free overnight parking hours are 5.30pm to 8.30am. Public toilets are a ≈150m/165yd walk away.
10m max length as of 01/26, max stay 1 night, 10 spots
