Camped here in july. Paid $20 for a night toilets locked. No water and no rubbish bins. Saw a tiny sign upon leaving which said the camp-site closes for the winter in May. There was no sign at the payment kiosk. Would be a nice place with the facilities open.
Managed by Waimate District Council, you can pay with Penny or at the camp office Waitangi East Camp. The low lying areas can flood but there’s heaps of room on upper levels. The grass is long and it can be windy. Toilets are always nice and clean and rubbish is removed. Plenty taps but non potable water needs to be boiled. Good fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking in the lagoon and a great place for a family summer holiday. Many sites are claimed in September by season pass holders
Bad place if you arrive late! Parked anywhere cause there is no specific place i think really not clear where you are supposed to go
Great spot only 1 other camper here. Flush Toilets that are clean rubbish and recycling here too.
The place is overrun with people with boats and locals staying for whole season with big areas taken and fenced, like all the campsites in this area. Unlike others, however, this one is huge, so if you don’t mind having to literally drive to a toilet (which may not be in a good condition), then at least you can be sure you’ll find not a bad spot here. The lakes and the dams are awesome.
Great apparently still secret place, since there are no reviews. Very large area. I found a nice spot by the river. There are some campers from the locals standing around, but there was almost no one there.
