Beautiful place to relax and unwind. Stayed 2 nights paid nothing for a permit online. Alot of places to park.

Lovely scenic views of the beach to wake up to but very noisy as right beside a main road. Flushing toilets with sinks. Tap for washing dishes, not drinking water. Dump station. Must have a permit submitted to the council before camping.

A nice view and right on the beach, but also on a busy road. Lots of broken glass and heaps of rubbish. It hasn't been cleaned in a while, as lots of waste buried in sand. One of the worst beaches I've been to in NZ. I'm glad I didn't donate the full $18 as recommended. Based on this location, I'd suggest Gisborne council discourages outside camper visitors. It has so much potential. Wear shoes. Don't bring kids or animals. Not good.

I have mixed feelings about Gisborne Council and how they do not manage their own sites when we have to pay $18 per night. Surely the view is incredible, but there are rubbishes on streets and a toilet that’s gross. Nothing else around.

An amazing stopover on the coast. Toilets and rubbish with permit. So close to Gisborne but road busy with logging. Stay 2 nights and chill.

Closed outside of daylight savings, gorgeous drive along the coast though.

There are two zones - one from Sept to April and one from 26 Dec to 1 Feb. It isn’t clear where the second zone starts so we parked close to the toilets (and others were parked further along than us) but were approached by a friendly council officer in the morning to tell us we were in the wrong place. So our advice is to stay on the other side of river to be sure.

Not a good place to turn up at if you are an overseas visitor just traveling independtly, having to book these places needs too much foresight and is too difficult to plan if you have only limited time.

This is a lovely spot, but not great if you want a quiet nights sleep. The logging trucks were roaring past all night.

Beautiful spot! Gorgeous sunset! We stayed closer to the point end. It's basically a thin strip between the road and beach, road very busy due to time of year probably. Still, very lucky to turn up and get a space for 2 families on New Year's Day!
