Site was good for parking wise BUT I found it unbelievable that you have to pay to use the showers and on top of that the showers and toliets are completely unisex this creates a massive opening for sexual assault. I personally did not feel safe sharing bathrooms and paying already $56 for a powered site then paying $5 extra for hot water. Didn’t use any of the other facilities such as the kitchen ect.
Have to pay for showers on top of the site which was odd
Lovely views of the beach and bay- worth booking Beach side pitch. Very clean toilets and showers. Showers need $1 coin and work well. Nice site with established shrubs on site, feels less barren than most sites. Pitches are very small so might feel crowded in peak season but lovely in March. We didn't use the cafe or kitchen. Staff very friendly and helpful. Small playground plus bouncing pillow and trampoline.
Lovely tidy park with great, clean facilities. We had a great pitch backing on to the beach with wonderful views. We had to leave earlier than planned, due to the severe weather warnings.
The facilities are old and small, the kitchen, no room for more than 3 people at a time. They charge for the shower but I tried 2 and they did not work at 7:30 am and no one is on site this time of morning. They recommended using a unisex facility but my wife would not use them because they had permanent campers on site and she thought that was scary.
Friendly staff, reasonable facilities. $50 for two people to camp for one night. Showers cost extra. Our tent site was very small and exposed with roads directly behind and to the right of us, a footpath in front, and another tent inches to the left. We slept OK considering.
Stayed here for 2 nights. “On” the beach, however it is covered in black rocks and driftwood and you are advised not to swim in the water at the beaches in Napier due to the strong undertow. The campsite was quiet, clean, affordable and plentiful. The showers are $1/5 min. The washer/dryers are $4/$2 respectively. I would stay here again
Big site but really small kitchen and toilet. Beach is not beautiful. Too expensive to low quality.
awesome place to stay, have one dollar coins ready if you come in afterhours or while reception is open for the showers. we arrived while they were open. nice and clean place
We arrived just slightly after hours and didn’t realize we had to bring dollar coins- ONLY dollar coins- to make the showers work ($1/5min). There isn’t a change machine, so with the office being closed we had to beg an exchange for two off whoever happened to be in the kitchen at the time. Nobody else had realized this was the case either. The men’s showers only got lukewarm for the last two minutes, women’s lukewarm the whole time, otherwise cold. Otherwise facilities were relatively clean and orderly, site was pretty quiet. Washer was effective, dryer not so much ($4 for 30 mins, jeans were still quite damp at the end). Lots of birds- one of them decided to knock on our window for about 20 mins straight at 6am, and we woke up to bird poo all over everything. Nothing you can do about nature though.
