Only negative experiences: no water available in the washrooms and sanitary facilities, sanitary facilities out of order and filthy. Construction work with heavy equipment right on the site. Cumbersome booking and payment system. 30 NZD per person for this is a bad joke.
OK. Uncomfortable online book but it succeeded. It was pretty busy on Easter weekend but fine. Facilities are acceptable.
We arrived on a Monday, and the office was closed. You can book a site online (a site with electricity costs $25 per person/day), but payment has to be made through a separate website (cumbersome). The cold-water showers outside the toilet block don't work, and the toilets aren't cleaned often. There are no lit paths, but there are water lines at the sites with electricity. The water isn't potable. Overall, it's too expensive.
Very windy and rainy today. Arrived at 5:30 PM, no staff on site. The building opposite the office looked like a kitchen or restaurant but was locked, so we couldn’t cook dinner. Facilities felt basic, and showers require coins (we didn’t use them due to the cold). Lake is close, but overall not worth the price compared to other $25 pp/night campgrounds. Unless parking is hard, better to stay farther and drive to the lake in the morning.
The campsite appeared to be overflowing with campers and tents when we arrived at 7pm. The facilities could not cope with the numbers. Cold showers after paying for a hot one. Toilets nearby were stinking. The views were amazing and despite the numbers it was relatively quiet for sleeping. The staff were very busy and trying their best. Showers not clean either.
The location of the campground is amazing with a huge beach leading onto the lake. Plenty of trees around. Very child friendly with a playground and relatively warm lake water in January. The camp ground facilities are average and a bit tired. The dish washing area is very basic with cold water with outside sinks. Despite that we will definitely come back because of the lake and the cool camping spots.
The campsite is clean and tidy. It costs 25$ per person per night. Cold showers and toilets are ok. You can take a hot shower for 2$. The online booking is a bit complicated, but still doable. The lake is simply beautiful and highly recommended.
We paid $2 for a good hot shower that we had been waiting for for many days... But it didn't flow a drop, so it was a cold shower for us...
Tried to book online but the website didn't allow me to pay..lol. emailed them n they replied with bank details. There are hot water showers for $2 (coin only) and cold shorts outside. It's really a public toilet. The night light was not very bright cos one was blown. No cooking facilities but there's a big sink for you to wash your cooking stuff. Overall good. $25 pp is indeed a bit steep
Clean site right on the lake, perfect access for swimming and walking as well as kids play area. Toilets were clean, didn’t use the showers as didn’t have $2 coins on us but outside cold showers also available. No wifi but good service
