Online booking process / payment is quite awkward. $50NZD for 2 adults are too expensive for no services and easy (not very clean) facilities
Stunning views and warm lake to swim in with platform to jump in as well. Camping couldn't be easier, sign into the office you I don't want to do online/printing. Bays are not marked so free for all for choosing space but plenty of room for that! Public toilets are clean and open all day.
Beautiful campsite on the side of the lake, decent toilets and $2 hot showers, play area for kids, sumo station and bins/recycling maybe a bit expensive for what it was at $20 pp a night but we enjoyed it and had a lovely run around the lake track (5 miles)
We booked online plot 20 (powered) and then had to pay the invoice to the council separately from the booking process. Site is unmanaged till December. Plot 20 was boggy and the van got temporarily stuck so we moved to an empty plot (36) which was much better. Facilities were okayish, but you can only use a $2 dollar coin for a hot shower. Surrounding areas by the lake were nice. This site was busier than any other we have used during October but it was a Saturday night and there was still plenty empty plots/space.
Lovely spot! Only has toilets and no cooking facilities but that’s fine. Pretty remote and peaceful. In the winter months no one to man the office so make sure you do your booking and payment online! Only one here with maybe 5 vehicles coming for a quick visit
This lake is stunning! Reminds me of lake Mackenzie on Fraser island. Camp ground is ok large plots, $2 hot showers, no cooking facilities but remoteness and location makes up for it.
Booked online for a camping spot. Toilets are being renovated. Showers are $2 for 2 mins hot shower. There are large bins, a dump station, drinking water and flushing toilets. Also enough space between the vans.
Sitting at Kai Iwi Lakes now and people are camping here, so is certainly being used as a campsite. Toilet block is open. Reasonable signal with Spark.
Campsite does exist. Free daytime camping along yhe lake egde. Really peaceful and beautiful.
Campsite no longer there.
