It serves a purpose, toilet was relatively well maintained for a long drop. Friendly ranger and pretty soft ground. Possums around so keep food on your tent, water available but boil first.

Dark place in the woods. Sandy ground though. If you have a big tent you may get in trouble because the campsites are quite small. The hut has a beautiful view over the coast. Don't know why they mess with the campers so bad ? Although good chance to spot kiwi at night. Had at least 3 at the campsite during the night.

Bad

No atmosphere or views on the site itself. You have to walk a few minutes to the coast. Sites are on forest ground and completely in the bush. No view to stars or sun. We walked the Rakiura Track clockwise so that the best comes last.
