Present yourself at the hotel bar to get a seat (with or without electricity). $10 for the night with access to the kitchen and shower. There is even a washing machine ($) if needed Perfect for a step!
Cheap and cheerful, and a chance for the kids to experience the classic Kiwi pub. They will, however, balk at the lack of wifi.
We had the buffet at 6 pm, and the food was good and filling. The lady was very friendly and the gentleman was vague. Turns out he's deaf, so cut him some slack. We camped over on a karaoke night that didn't wind up until 12, and the last party goers left after 1am. There was no more hot water for the showers but for $10 per person and the nearest alternative is $60 at the Top 10 in Ross, you can save money, here.
Lovely setup for a very reasonable price. We parked up, spoke to the guy behind the bar and he explained it was $10 per person for the night to camp, and we had access to showers and kitchen. Washing machine and dryer were $2 each. Lovely beer on tap in the hotel too which is a bonus! Keep in mind that the hotel has a generator running all through the night that is quite loud, and you will be able to hear it wherever you park if your van isn’t soundproofed.
Simple parking spot in the backyard of a secluded Western town 😉 With showers and toilets! Very pleasant, simple place and a quaint pub.
We stayed in an unpowered site for 10 dollars each, honestly amazing showers!! Kitchen had everything you needed, pub fish and chips was great. Very chilled place and great value for money
Ross. $10pp per night for non powered site. It was in the car park at the back of the pub. Shared kitchen, powerful showers and $2 to wash your clothes. Such a great vibe at the pub, cheap drinks and friendly people! Would stay here again, loved this small country town.
Good safe place to stay. Great food and Hotel retains much of its origins. Nice locals to chat with. Unlimited hot showers, Toilets outside the Hotel so you can access anytime. I would like to return.
I saw the other reviews about how good the pub is and I just wanna double down and say the same. Amazing food, great vibes, cool history. I was fortunate to come on a night they had a buffet. The pork belly was the star of the show. Non powered site is not free btw but just $10. Kitchen is basic but good. Showers hot. Will be coming again.
If you want the airbrushed polished tourist experience then this is not the place for you. However, if you want an authentic Kiwi welcome and the best free unlimited hot showers we have found so far, then I totally recommend this place! Yes, the kitchen and facilities are dated and basic but it is clean, tidy and the kitchen had everything you need on hand. The food in the hotel pub was brilliant - rib-eye steak!!! We had a fantastic time talkibg to the locals over a beer. Total bliss!
