Stayed 24Apr26. Fantastic DOC campsite. Plenty of room and only a handful of campers on our night. Lovely lake close by but the campsites are set back from the lake soo to keep the sand flys away. Friendly Kia roaming around. Cold shower, large sinks for washing dishes and toilet block were good condition. Loved this site!
Was staying in this doc campsite on 15.4.. its spacious place where you can park on a grass. Clean flush toilets, solar showers (didn’t use), shelter with sink. Quite at night.
Super DOC, close to the lake with a sunrise on the peaks of the magnificent snowy mountains. Cold shower but it does the taff with good pressure + clean toilets. Large space with picnic tables
This was one of our favourite DOC campsites. Super spacious and easy to get a spot. Near the beautiful lake. There are not a lot of sandflies. Location is perfect when travelling the west coast. Facilities are fine, but do not expect too much of the shower (not sure if it works, we didn’t try).
Arrived late (8:30ish) and still plenty of space. Clean toilets. Peaceful spot.
Super location for a classic DOC site. Beautifully situated beside the lake. Very poor phone signal so a nightmare booking and paying if you do it there.
Large site, arrived ar 7pm and still a lot of space. Clean facilities, even a solar shower! Not a lot of sandflies. Would recommend. Very good phone signal.
Beautiful camping spot at the Lake and we had a very quite night. But I had the impression we were the only one who paid for the night as you are obligated to do. 18 dollars for one night. Camping site was pretty full and the booking app was saying 205 spots left….toilets were very dirty (women toilets did not even flush) and showers not working…so yes, why should people pay?
Typical DOC campsite. Clean toilets and lots of space. We returned for a second night after spending the day in Hokitika, rather than moving on
This has been our favourite campsite so far! You drive through a beautiful forest that feels like a fairytale to get to the site. There is lots of flat space and there are lovely nature walks around the campsite. Clean toilets. No cell reception.
