Perfect if you just stay for one or two nights. Toilets, washing sink, water (but boil before use) and a wonderful view on the ocean. The phone signal isn't perfect, but sometimes their is some. And if you forget to do a booking you can do it their.
Frankly the camp itself is incredible, it is isolated, very quiet, clean toilets but the sand flies it is just inhabitable, it royally ruins the spot.
beautiful spot! right on the beach( not aloud to swim though) has 4 flushable toilets and able to wash hands aswell(non potable water) service was spotty but worked fine when i was on the beach start of the heaphy track if wanting to do a little portion of it! INSANE amount of sandflies (not the best if you have a smaller van that you have to cook outside in) were still tons in the morning!!
Actually a super nice spot, very quiet and some spots have seawiev. But... many many sandflies. Use your repellant before you get out of your car. I got eaten while I was checking in. Also a lot of bumblebees flying around and try to discover everything in your van. So in the end, i didn't enjoy it too much, although it was a nice spot.
Beautiful campsite! Super secluded and quiet even when all sites are full. No showers. Good flushing toilets with running water to wash hands. Sandflies are no joke though. If it’s not windy they’re unbearable in camp and almost as bad on the beach. Can’t swim in the ocean due to strong rips. Weak signal on the beach.
Absolutely stunning spot. Few other campers around - sandflies abound though, even in July. Be prepared and you won't regret making the effort to get up here
Welcome to paradise. Toilets clean, no shower, no dishes. Sandflies let you run faster.
So many sandflies and so many weka. One weka stole my bag of chocolate and i had to chase it. The sandflies were eating me in the bathroom
Ahh Kohaihai start of the iconic Heaphy. Even with thunder lightening and intermittent downpours , what a magical place beginning of winter. Beautiful private sheltered spots. Watch the wekas, man cheeky like keas ;-). Watch your Food. And the rude #$&# who walked right through my private campspot car and tent. All of those private spots have access to the beach. Rude, I told him so. Should have opened my car door and stopped him from walking through. To slow. Next time I will.
BEAUTIFUL location! Toilets were pretty average (no bins…) Sandflies killed us. Worth a stay definitely
