The Puriri Bay (Whangaruru North Head) Campsite has received mixed reviews. Some reviewers praised the stunning location, with one describing it as "one of the best camps North of Auckland". Many enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, with some even spotting kiwis in the area. Others mentioned that the campsite was well-maintained and had clean facilities, including toilets and showers.
However, a few reviewers had disappointing experiences. One camper was unhappy with the lack of potable water, cold showers, and unlit toilet at night. Another criticized the host for making them wait to check-in, stating that they were not prioritizing campers' needs.
Some reviewers mentioned that the campsite is remote and there are no shops nearby, so it's essential to stock up on supplies before arriving. Others praised the nearby walk over the headland, which offered great views. Overall, the campsite seems to have both its pros and cons, and it's recommended to be prepared and mindful of the facilities offered before visiting.
