Nice spot near river and close to Milford Sound. Toilets were typical drop. No frills but a nice spot. I did encounter two rude campers who decided to park 5 feet from me when there were lots of other nice spots. They talked and cooked until almost midnight. So rude! I should haved moved.
Good location for visiting Milford sound but felt a bit excessive cost at 18$pp, was quiet when my wife and I visited but I can imagine in peak season it is very in demand and then the price reflects demand for Milford Sound location. You’re only paying for the use of a drop toilet and pitch as there is no water supply, sump station or showers. Toilet stunk and the area was littered with sand flies. As soon as my van door opened there would be multiple flies inside.
Peaceful and clean campsite. Great views. The toilet was a positive surprise; clean and didn't smell. We arrived around 7-8pm and there was still plenty of space at that time, but towards evening the area filled up.
Peaceful place by the river. Toilets had lots of dead flies. Nothing special, okay for one night stay. Book a place beforehand on DOC’s website.
Nice spot on the river. When we camped it was snow and rain and there were a few puddles to navigate to the toilet. Long drop toilet - no one loves them but it’s fine really. Reasonable price at $15 PP to go towards conserving all the nature we come to see!
A very basic campsite along the river, good for self contained vehicles but the drop toilets were horrible. Lots of sandflies and price was a bit much for what it was ($15 PP). Gravel road down to the campsite with lots of potholes, difficult to manoeuvre. Empty in winter but the star were absolutely beautiful from there. Not too far from Milford sound (1.5 hours)
Decent campsite :) with clean drop toilet. At this time of year we were alone and a bit freezing at night. My partner had 4G and I didn't have any phone signal. Maybe because his is more recent.
Very basic but perfect for Milford sound - about 1 hour away. In shoulder season much quieter, no significant issues with sand flies
Very beautiful camping site, directly at the river with a good view to the valley and mountains.
Nice little camp site on the river, clean toilets, it got busy late in tge afternoon but still plenty if privacy. It’s NZ, there are sandflies but they didn’t carry you away.
