We thought we'd pop up for a look, minus caravan. Road in is ok (saw a deer on the road) but river was up and we didn't have the guts to try the ford. Wouldn't take a caravan up here.

Secluded, picturesque campsite by the river. The road leading in is fine just a river crossing so need a high clearance vehicle. BUT the sandflies were unbearable for us from 2pm when we arrived to 11pm and then again starting at 7:30am. The DOC were also doing 1080 poison spraying so we were unable to do certain hikes and the campsite further down the road was closed until further notice.

Have travelled by suv/motorbike through many countries. This is one of the best campsites I’ve ever been to. Glacial stream/mountains/grassy campground with no one there ( only downside is sandflies)

Beautiful spacious and quiet campsite by the river, great for swimming, too bad that sandflies ruin the experience :( It was just us and one more car camping here. Fire is allowed here and toilet was clean, but watch out for wasps

Tough drive in on a gravel road. Great space with a beautiful river and view. Not very crowded. Lots of sandflies. Nice place in a remote area.

Fire is allowed in the existing fire pits, as indicated by a sign. Sandflies are really annoying, but the place is super nice, right on the river, also good for swimming and fishing.

We fully agree with the last comment. A beautiful spot. Take your own drinking water and be prepared for sandflies.

Must see best place in nz so far. The facilities are amazingly clean and the road is better than I expected with a beautiful view. The fords where one of our highlights in nz. A road trip without this campsite is not a road trip ?
