A well-maintained spot (freshly mowed grass and no litter) by the road and the lake. We were there on a windy, sunny day, and the ground was nice and dry. We could easily fit three campervans in the freecamp. Indeed, there are no facilities (toilets, rubbish bins, water, etc.), but the internet connection is good, and the place is very peaceful. I recommend it for people who love nature!

Beautiful spot right next to the beach. A bit muddy but definitely alright, should even be big enough for a small campervan but no problem sleeping in my car. No toilet tho but it's free so 10/10

Toilet is actually 850m down the road if you look on Google maps We arrived in the dark and it was well signed Small campers fine, no chance of getting a big one in Not many level spots!

Super small, maybe able to get a small van in, it was also super wet and muddy. Lots of garbage in a corner with an old mattress. It was an immediate no.

A nice wee site amongst a small patch of native bush / wetland on the lake margin. Kereru and other birds around. No toilet here at all. Phone coverage good though - 2Degrees and Spark. Limited space, and it is pretty boggy in places.

Drove past didn’t end up staying as wasn’t much space and not much to see except dirty water!

It was actually quite hard to find but as previous comment said to persist and continue down long long long road. This spot itself is not well sign posted. You could easily miss it as it's tucked away on a corner in off the road. I would say that you would miss it at night. Peace and quiet. It's 6pm and we have it all to ourselves. I could imagine the grass gets quite boggy anytime of the year as this is mid summer and it's cold and wet wet wet. But a beautiful spot to chill out at. My Vodaphone has coverage. Not for large camper vans. Simple bush walker's style toilet but adequate. There's no mention that freedom self contained travellers can stay here but then it doesn't say you can't ?

Very nice place, with nice views etc. But overrun with mosquitoes! We had to leave hurriedly with at least fifty unwanted "tenants" still in the van. Pity !

next to a very quiet road and stunning view in the morning. The grassy area is a bit sloppy when wet to get out of.
