Only 4 spots so arrive early, we stayed one night late April and were the 3rd spot at around 4pm! All 4 full by 7pm. Quiet location, felt safe, police were around on the morning but no bother they seemed to be checking things were quiet? Robo toilet other end of the car park, open during daylight hours. Nice reserve and bike tracks nearby. Good view of Kapiti Island

Great place to stay, very calm and quiet during the night (even on a saturday night). Locals were friendly and had a chat. We had a stunning sunset and saw some beautiful birds. There was a clean toilet which even played music haha.

Very lovely campsite with a clean robo-toilet nearby! The toilet appeared to be closed after 8pm.

Pretty cool spot, decent toilets. Only problem, some local kids came up to us to tell us that at 8pm people would come and ask us for money to stay on the pitch. Of course it's false and it was meant to scare us, but we left because we didn't want to be bothered and disturbed during the evening.

Very clean spot. We arrived at 6pm and it was empty. 4 spots for free Campersite. And toilets are at the entrence.

A bit rogue maybe but after freedom camping around New Zealand for 8 weeks, this was my favourite spot! I stayed twice - once end of Feb and then again beginning of Apr. In Feb, I arrived at 1pm and the 4 spots were full by 5pm; in Apr there were still free spaces all night. It’s absolutely stunning to walk around looking over the river, estuary, and then sea just on the other side of the sand dunes. The sunsets behind Kapiti Island are unreal. I love it here so much 🥹 ! 1 night only sadly

The only 4 places are quickly taken. A good and perhaps better alternative is Otaki Beach.

At 6 p.m. all places are full or overcrowded. We won't take the risk of a $400 fine.
