National Freedom Camping Regulations

New Zealand has comprehensive Freedom Camping regulations and rules change regularly. Please use this site for national guidance and refer to the relevant council website to ensure you follow its bylaws.

Site information:

• x2 Certified Self-contained vehicles at any one time.
• 24 hours maximum time limit.
• 10m maximum vehicle length.
• Cold shower available - exterior western wall of toilet block.
• Public toilet - open daylight hours all year round.
• Coastal, fairly sheltered, busy at times, mostly quiet, beach access.
• Boat access - Waikanae Boating Club #97 Tutere St, Waikanae.
• Dog-friendly (on-lead zone).
• Strictly NO FIRES.
• Defibrillator: located exterior eastern wall of boating club.
