A bunch of dudes came early in the night and started drifting inches from our car we had no other choice but to leave bc WE didn't want those junkies to crash into our car.
Wow, what an amazing spot! One of my favorites for free camping. The setting is absolutely fantastic right by the water, and there are even toilets (not great, but they're there!). Excellent cell phone reception, seriously, go for it! Just be aware that only two vehicles can park by the water; a little further on, there's a grassy area that can accommodate three.
There is good phone signal, even down at the beachfront spots! maybe they’ve updated the system recently, as other reviews suggested there was no signal, but as of Feb 11 2026 there definitely is.
Spent one night by the sea in a car, no problem, a bit busy in the morning (someone was playing music loudly). The toilets were nice, flushable, toilet paper, with a light. Actually the light was shining the whole night so it's good to have curtains. No phone signal.
Spent a night in a camper van in the rear parking lot, limited to 3 vehicles. Well sheltered from the crowds by being located along the hill, unlike the 2 seafront pitches. A nice little park for children and decent toilets (paper). A police car circled in the early evening. A bit of traffic in the evening and morning from people going to the beach. Very beautiful site (beach, dunes, wreck, wind turbines in the distance, river). Quiet night. No feeling of insecurity
The view is nice but there is little privacy. The signal is weak, the toilets are OK. There is an outdoor beach shower, but washing up is difficult as the pool is tiny. There are a few picnic tables. Only two campers are allowed to stay overnight directly by the lake, but there are a few more sites further back. It is quite windy and strange people kept passing by. To be honest, I didn't feel entirely safe.
Beautiful place with a nice view and a beautiful sunset. The toilets are clean and there is a tap to refill water. The ranger is super nice, he comes to ask if everything is ok for us and to chat a little.
Clean toiletts and nice view. A guy from the district council (I think) showed up in the early evening just to check if everything is okay and had a quick chat with me, but didnt bother me. There is no signal at the campingspots themselfes but you just have to go up the hill to the look out. At around 23 some people showed up and screemed at each other, but a bit further away from them so I dont know if anything else happend, but I wasnt further bothered. But it didnt make me feel save
Stayed here for one night in the camper. Very windy even back from the sea front. Toilets were handy and fairly clean. Lovely bay with a shipwreck if the weather is good. There were lots of cars coming in and out all afternoon/evening but I still felt pretty safe even though I was alone, no one approached me and were no issues.
Stayed here last week and it was awesome! 2 spots at the waterfront and plenty inland. Good bathroom, gets cleaned daily. Outside shower. Potable water to fill up available. Best parts are the beautiful view, beach, and shipwreck, and the fantastic freedom camping ambassador who comes to visit in the evening to check everything. Very knowledgeable and friendly guy! Was a pleasure to meet him and learn more about the area. Definitely recommend this spot :)
