The camp is beautiful on a sunny day - river passing by, great view of snowy mountains. Worth the 11km drive off the main road, the last 1km of gravel road wasn't bad. No facilities, just nature around - we made a small fire using driftwood.

Nice spot but no toilets,…

If you're from the U.S and used to boondocking/dispersed camping, this spot is perfect. There were no toilets or rubbish bins but there was peace and quiet and a lovely river. We went here during the day to see the spot and take a dip in the river and regretted not camping here.

There aren’t any toilets or any signs at all

Only self contained campers that are certified. No toilets also no signs with information. Don’t camp on the river as the water rises when raining

Two gravel areas by the river, at risk of flooding. It rained a lot while I was there yesterday and there was no issue but was warned by the nice woman who came to check the self contained sticker that the water could rush in very quickly. No amenities at site (no water, toilet, trash). River looked like it could be nice but not in rainy weather. Really good public toilets in Whataroa, 12 min drive away.

Nice spot by the river and good view of mountains. No phone reception, bins or toilets. Toilets are 10 min drive in town. Plenty of space. Gravel drive but nothing awful.
