Huge, amazing campsite with access to beautiful river. Was completely empty on a Tuesday in March. Keep going past first carpark (although that has access to nice bit of the river) down to big rolling field. Stinky toilets and no signal!

The road from Napier or Taihape is winding but beautiful. Remember to fill up with gas before setting off as there are no gas stations for 140km. Very beautiful place in the middle of the mountains. Lots of grassy spaces. And access to the river. Decent dry toilet. No network at all. A little paradise on earth.

Fantastic scenic road from Waiouru to access to the campsite. Surrounded by nature for a peaceful and quiet night. No network. Dry toilet available.

Very beautiful campsite, easy access to river. However the big grass campsite with nice hill views is for tents only. If you are with motorhome, you have to camp at small gravel parking lot before the actual campsite.

Best campsite we have stayed at so far ! Multiple places to park , peace and quiet . Toilets - seen better but it doesn’t really matter. Awesome spots for swimming in the river . I’d recommend going for a swim near the helipad parking area if the campsite is busy .

+Beautiful spot with wide open fields as well as little spots nestled in the bush. Steep walking tracks down to the river. Not too busy on NYD to our relief -heaps of busy bees (flies) but they tended to stay away from us

One of the most beautiful places weve been. Very nice and quiet and offline. We took offside track to river accidentally but I recommend the marked tracks. Toilets are the small green buildings.

One of my favorites campgrounds. Heaps of space, the river is amazing and next to the campground is the kuripapango track. No service, but one of the best night sky

Peaceful at this time of year , caught a stonking rainbow in the river and of course released it.

I love this spot, peaceful and embraced by nature. Long drops (bring your own paper), no running site water except for river, beautiful clean water. No signal. If your goal is to get embedded into nature then this site is brilliant. I will continue to keep coming here
