We have booked and paid online as it stated it had 36 spots available (more than any other campsite along the river). Upon arrival there was absolutely no space at all!
Total fire ban, no fireplaces anymore at all.
Great large camp site plenty of rooms.

A large campsite with lots of alcoves to park up in! We were there in January and it wasn’t that busy at all. Great Kauri tree walk further up the road.
Relatively flat campsite, long drop toilet ok, rubbish & recycling station. Has suffered a lot of damage from flooding last year & so only just reopened. The nearest swimming hole was washed out so better staying at different site further down. We stayed here because it’s dog friendly. Great tramping tracks & the kids loved playing in the river.
The worst campground we've ever visited. To charge 10 Dollars for what is offered is really bold. We were there at the end of the season so maybe it's more beautiful during high summer but it was a desaster during our stay!! The dry toilets weren't really clean which wouldn't be a huge problem if it hadn't also been infested by mosquitos. Other than that the camp offered nothing, not even water. Just horrible!!
Fantastic spot! Very spacious so even in height of Summer everyone had lots of room. Bubbling stream across the road from here which you can swim in. Great walks not far away. 20km down an unsealed road which isn't great for old rickety vans but it is all worth it. Drop toilet was in pretty good condition. Dogs allowed. Highly recommended.
