Great campsite! DOC rarely disappoints! Lovely well-kept grass with tall trees on all edges for shade, a few picnic tables, and a well-maintained long drop. 5 minutes up the trail in the back is nice place to take a cold dip in the river — super refreshing on a hot day.
A number of sites grass firm enough for motorhome. A couple of newish looking loos. Beautiful bush and birdsong. River to wash or play in. Walk to Cookson Kauri is well worthwhile. Lower track great for kids, near streams, then wonderful bush, lots of steps up to most magnificent kauri
We paid pp/night here - perhaps winter rates ? The stream is just beautiful. Yes it’s basic and has no cell reception, but that nature & simplicity is what we came for! Great base for Kaueranga hikes or just to get away from suburbia. Thanks DOC !
Great camp site own stream to wash in and close to end of road and the main walks
Very basic but great location. Clean toilet. Road isn't too great but took it slow and it was fine. Ranger was nice when he came to check and take away the rubbish. No signal here. Bliss being away from it all.
Beautiful campsite close to start of walking tracks. Just a long-drop. However, the camping fee is way too high. The metal road to the camp sites and the walking tracks is extremely poor.
Great campsite, stayed one night. Well organized and nice surroundings. Can’t understand the complaints against the DOC fee. As a foreign tourist I don’t think New Zealand taxpayers should pay for free camping sites for us foreigners to use. I’m glad to pay a small fee for all the work that’s done on these sites.
Good basic campsite. Drop toilets were clean, road was manageable with a normal car.
Great place in mother natures world
The most expensive campground we have to been to so far and the worst too. Overpriced for a lack of facilities and the mosquito plague is insane! Uncomfortable nights sleeping. Not happy.
